StudyMate ("we", "our", or "us") is an AI-powered personal learning assistant accessible at https://studymatelearning.dev. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect
a) Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. You may sign up using Google OAuth, in which case we receive your name and email from Google.
b) Uploaded Content
You may upload files (PDFs, documents, images, audio) to StudyMate for AI processing. These files are stored temporarily and used solely to generate study materials for your personal use.
c) Usage Data
We collect information about how you interact with the service — such as features used, pages visited, session duration, and actions taken. This helps us improve the product.
d) Device & Technical Data
We may automatically collect your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and device identifiers when you access our service.
e) Support Communications
When you submit a support ticket, we collect the content of your message and any details you provide.
2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
3. AI Processing Disclaimer
Content you upload is processed by AI models(including third-party AI providers such as Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, or OpenAI) to generate flashcards, quizzes, summaries, and explanations. Your content may be transmitted to these providers subject to their own privacy policies and data processing terms. We configure these services in data-protection mode wherever possible (e.g., "no training" opt-outs).

We use the following third-party services that may collect data:

Cloudflare Turnstile
Bot protection on signup/login forms

5. Data Retention
We retain your account and usage data for as long as your account is active. Uploaded files processed by the AI are deleted or retained only for the minimum period needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data (GDPR Article 17 / India DPDP Act)
